Mark Calderwood has been selected to play for Scotland in the World Cup - the Warriors winger is the surprise inclusion in a preliminary 37-man squad for the prestigious tournament to be staged Down Under in the autumn.
Calderwood – who is set to become a Hull player next season – has represented England A in the past, but qualifies for Scotland through his grandparents.

Wigan-born Scotland coach Steve McCormack has also named former Warriors back-row forward Oliver Wilkes, who is now plying his trade with Wakefield.

For once I've got to agree with Ste, Mark McCalderwood shouldn't be anywhere near a World Cup team given his form. Whilst it's true that he's had little service from centres whilst he's been at Wigan, I still find his overall play to be lazy and poor quality. The occasional break (set up by someone else) on Friday doesn't disguise the fact that he himself almost never breaks an opposition line and he spends more time going sideways rather than forward. Add to that, his defence is very poor. He has the occasional burst where he puts in 2-3 tackles in a row, but invariably gives away a penalty because he's too slow getting off the last tackle or is offside, and that attempted clearance behind the line that ended up with a try for Leeds last Friday was just laughable. The man just looks as if he can't be bothered, and I won't be sorry to see him leave Wigan.

Surely the Scots can find another non-Scottish person (McCalders is from London and has represented England in the past!) to join their team?
